Meet the Doctor
Dr. Nicholas Hawker
D'Sol has a top notch doctor well-qualified to bring the best care with today's best technology.
Dr. Hawker received his Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 2008. He started his family while in Florida but was raised in a small town similar to Charlestown in central Illinois. As a child, his best friends father was his optometrist. Dr. Hawker has always had to wear glasses so he was unconsciously always drawn to this profession. He received his BA in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1996. He worked as a designer for the next five years. When thinking about his future he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. He just knew he wanted a profession where he could help people and make a difference in their lives. Optometry was a logical choice. It combines his love of science with his love of people.
He met his wife, Mildred, while finishing up his Doctorate work in Florida. She was an optician working at an optometrist's office where he worked while going to school. Once he graduated, they moved to Charlestown to be close to their family. His sister and her family have lived and worked in the area for several years. Dr. Hawker and Mildred bought the practice from Dr. Michael Brumit in January 2012.
When not working, Dr. Hawker is very active in his community. He is a member of the local Lions Club and he is on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Hawker and his staff enjoy providing vision screenings to local schools. When he has free time he enjoys wood working, stone sculpting, building computers, and spending time with his family.
